“Knowing the Third Sector: identity, principles and classification of entities"

What characteristics define a Third Sector Organization? What is the difference between a non-profit organization and an ETS? What is the principle of subsidiarity? And what elements need to be evaluated before establishing a new entity?

From these questions comes “Knowing the Third Sector: identity, principles and classification of entities", the first volume of the AdIM series "The Third Sector for the common good", signed by Luciano Mattina and Rosanna Gorga.

The book offers a theoretical and legal basis for understanding the role of the Third Sector in Italian society and orienting itself among the main organizational choices. The first chapter clarifies the relationship between first, second and third sectors, the private and non-profit nature of ETS and their ability to produce economic value and social value together. The text, Furthermore, explores the constitutional principle of subsidiarity and the relationship between citizens, organizations and public administration. Still, with this first volume we want to reconstruct the origins and objectives of the reform, of the Third Sector Code and the RUNTS.

A central part is dedicated to the difference between the different ETS categories: voluntary organizations, social promotion associations, philanthropic organizations, social enterprises and social cooperatives, mutual aid society, associative networks. In the end, the volume concludes with an overview of the essential steps to establish an entity: from idea to statute, from the bodies to registration in the RUNTS, up to the management of volunteers, workers and initial administrative obligations.

The text is aimed both at those who already work in an organization, and to those who intend to start one. It can also be used by professionals and operators who wish to acquire an overview of the sector.

It Volume 1 will be available from 30 September in paperback and e-book format on our web and social channels. The presale and purchase methods will be communicated in the next few days.
