“It will continue without pause, also in 2019, the work of relaunching the city that we have been carrying out since we moved to Palazzo Mosti". Mayor Clemente Mastella stated this this morning during the usual end-of-year press conference.
The mayor of Benevento first announced that the 9 January will be in Rome to participate in a meeting with the Extraordinary Commissioner of Enrico Rolle regarding the issue of the construction of the new purifier. “At that time – explains Mastella – we will arrive at a definition of the process to follow to start the works. Moreover, the construction of such an important work cannot be improvised overnight. Even those who speak out of turn these days should know this, if they had addressed the problem when they governed the city, would not have caused the serious delays that we are trying to remedy".
The mayor then focused on the issue of air pollution: “A problem that affects many Italian cities, forced to adopt the same measures that we put in place in Benevento. After all, it is the current legislation that requires us to stop traffic when there are multiple exceedances. In any case, we will implement a series of measures aimed at reducing the phenomenon: from boiler controls, which represent the main source of pollution, to planning the planting of new trees, on the example of Milan. In the meantime, I can only renew the invitation to lower the temperature of radiators in public offices and private homes".
Mastella has, Then, remembered how much the image of the city has grown in recent years thanks to the work done by the Administration: “It's no coincidence, for example, that the correspondent of the program "Striscia la notizia", Luca Abete, chose Benevento to shoot a Christmas commercial". About that, allow me to also say that we will charge the Municipality for the decline in purchases, as some have done in recent days, it's just a form of stupidity that doesn't even take into account the effects of the serious economic crisis that is gripping the entire country".
The mayor then claimed credit for having increased the percentage of separate waste collection, despite the difficulties resulting from the closure of the Casalduni Stir, to have reopened the escalators in via del Pomerio and to have agreed with the State Railways on an overall restyling and relaunch of the central station.
“After many years of useless chatter we will also define the issue of the Hortus Conclusus with maestro Mimmo Paladino and we will begin the redevelopment of the former Edibles Market, to which we have allocated one million euros. We will illuminate the Bue Apis and the church of S. Hilary, continuing in this way the work of valorising the main monuments of the city, just as we will continue to pay great attention to the districts, neglected for too long. In short – concluded Mastella – we will continue in our commitment to relaunch Benevento, despite the dramatic financial conditions of the organization that we inherited from those who preceded us".
