The Intrapresa Sociale call seeks innovative project ideas to respond to the needs of disadvantaged people and communities. The Cattolica Foundation wants to support activities started in Italy capable of generating a strong territorial impact and of sustaining themselves independently in the future. We do not finance large infrastructures but concrete services that maximize effectiveness compared to economic costs. The maximum contribution is thirty thousand euros, covering up to fifty percent of the total expenses. Work inclusion is rewarded, involvement of new volunteers and ability to create solid networks with the active support of the local Italian community.
Territory of intervention: Entire National Territory.
Direct recipients: The direct recipients are people, families and communities in disadvantaged conditions and/or at risk of social marginalization.
Proposing Entities Requirements:
- Third Sector Bodies (ETS), including Social Enterprises, by the Associative Rate: must be regularly registered in any section of the RUNTS (in the case of social enterprises, registration must take place in the section “social enterprises” of the Company Register).
- Private non-profit entities.
- Civilly recognized religious bodies (including ecclesial associations and movements): to participate they must register a “branch” of activities of general interest.
Additional requirements: In addition to the legal typology, To participate you must meet the following requirements:
- Solidity of the institution: ability to present the approved final balance sheets of the latter 3 exercises, as well as the memorandum of association and statute.
- Co -financing: the organization must declare with which resources it will cover the remaining portion (beyond 50%) of the total project budget.
- Focus on activities: the initiative must start in Italy, guarantee future economic self-sustainability and do not foresee investments in properties or equipment.
- Uniqueness of the question: each individual organization can submit only one contribution request.
Type of interventions: The tender does not aim to finance structural works, but seeks and supports the start-up of new activities and services in Italy aimed at people, fragile families and communities. In particular, the proposed interventions must possess these fundamental characteristics:
- Focus on activities, not on infrastructure: The heart of the project must be social action. They are in fact excluded (or allowed only to a very limited extent) renovation work on properties or large purchases of equipment.
- Future self-sustainability: The started business does not have to depend forever on external funds, but it must be structured to support itself economically and operationally independently once the initial phase supported by the Foundation has concluded.
- Concrete and measurable impact: The interventions must generate tangible impacts on the territory, such as the inclusion of people in work contexts, the involvement of new volunteers, reaching a large number of beneficiaries and creating synergies with the local community.
- Innovation and efficiency: Unpublished approaches are rewarded and “generative” to respond to social needs, capable of maximizing results and real impact compared to the costs incurred.
Eligible expenses:
- Nature of expenses (Activities vs Infrastructures): Resources must be used to start and manage social activities and services. The heart of the budget must therefore be dedicated to operational activities.
- The contribution limit (Rule of 50%): The maximum contribution that can be paid is: 30.000 euro and can never exceed 50% of the overall costs of the project. This means that the total eligible expenses must be structured so that the institution can cover at least the other 50%.
- The expenses incurred must be documented and reported (quantitatively and qualitatively) to get payment. Advance payments are expected (25% at the beginning of the work, until 50% ongoing after reporting half of the costs), but the balance is paid only at the end of the project.
Ineligible expenses:
- Interventions on buildings and equipment: The notice clearly establishes that the projects must not include structural interventions on the properties (such as renovations, adjustments or purchases) nor the purchase of equipment, if not for “limited amounts”.
In summary, all expenses related to investments in physical infrastructure are essentially considered ineligible, building works or large purchases of machinery. The contribution must be allocated exclusively to the start-up, the management and impact of social activities and services aimed at beneficiaries.
Resources available: Maximum contribution per project: 30.000 euro. Co-financing limit: The contribution paid cannot in any case exceed 50% of the overall costs of the project (the proposing body will then have to find and declare how it will cover the other 50% or more).
