Lately when we talk about healthcare in Italy the most recurring term is "cut": in fact, more and more services are excluded from the coverage of the national health service, for this reason taxpayers are not used to receiving good news on this matter.
The ASL of Salerno goes against the trend because it is Saturday 16 November 2024 inaugurated a HUB shop at the Salone della Montagna in Valle dell'Angelo - which is the smallest municipality in its province - which starts the experimentation of the Community shops: a framework of local socio-health structures - almost a tailor-made model - composed of various types of structures designed on epidemiological needs, social, healthcare of the territories: which for now includes twenty-seven municipalities in the internal areas and two important hubs from a hospital and healthcare point of view, namely Roccadaspide and Vallo della Lucania.
Present at the event were the president of the Campania Region, the Hon. Vincenzo De Luca, l’Ing. Gennaro Sosto – manager of the Salerno Health Authority – the regional councilor Corrado Matera, the mayors of the municipalities involved (Aquara, Bellosguardo, Campora, Cannalonga, Castelcivita, Castelnuovo Cilento, Castel San Lorenzo, Ceraso, Controne, Corleto Monforte, Happy, Gioi, Laurino, Magliano Vetere, Moio della Civitella, Monteforte Cilento, Novi Velia, the page, Octati, Expert, Piaggine, Roscigno, Sacco, Salento, Sant'Angelo a Fasanella, Stio), clearly other mayors of internal areas were also present, such as Michele Marmo, mayor of San Rufo, because the project is a management experiment that integrates the resources of the Mission 5 e 6 of the PNRR and the Internal Areas Strategy (SNAI); the General Director of ASL SA Gennaro Sosto declared: “Our community nurses will meet with social workers, also incorporating the service pharmacy. Work together to assist the person, accompanying her by the hand. The dream is that other municipalities, like those of the Amalfi Coast, can join this project".
The Community Shops are therefore the proposal of an integrated service through which the ASL Salerno, the Municipalities, general medicine, service pharmacies, as well as a large group of institutional and voluntary partners, they take care of the person who resides in the internal areas of the province and accompany the care path throughout the patient's life, also indicating the delivery points of modern and integrated health services.
The inauguration day aroused emotion among the mayors but also great popular participation: a sign that the project was understood and appreciated by the experimental communities.
